Senator Martin Sandoval endorses Cheryle Jackson for U. S. Senate
CHICAGO -- Illinois State Senator Martin Sandoval (D-12) has endorsed Cheryle Jackson for U.S. Senate in the Democratic Primary Election on February 2, 2010.
Sandoval’s 12th District is 80 percent Hispanic and covers the heart of the Latino community in Chicago and Cicero. Senator Sandoval is the Chairman of the Hispanic Caucus, was the first Latino elected to county-wide office, the first Latino elected as a commissioner for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, and the first Latino to represent the 12th District in the state senate.
“We need Cheryle Jackson in the U. S. Senate because we need a candidate that has a track record of fighting for families, creating jobs and economic opportunity. She is the only candidate that has fought for equal access to quality education throughout Illinois, no matter what the zip code. She is the only candidate that has actually fostered new small businesses, created jobs, and saved people’s homes from foreclosure,” said Sandoval.
Jackson is also endorsed by EMILY’s List, the Women’s Campaign Fund, Cook County Democratic Women, Thornton Township Democratic Organization, Proviso Township Democratic Organization, Shields Township Democratic Committee, South Suburban Mayors Task Force, Aurora African-American Elected officials, Clergy for Cheryle Jackson representing the Chicago area’s largest churches with congregations that total more than 200,000 people, Congressman Danny Davis, Congressman Bobby Rush, Senator and Reverend James T.
